This year at our Annual Meeting, we will be presenting the Media Partner Award to Nexstar Broadcasting’s local stations, WBRE and WYOU. The Media Partner Award is bestowed upon a community media partner who goes above and beyond in supporting our agency’s mission. Our friends at WBRE and WYOU have long demonstrated their support through their promotion of our programs as well as public service announcements. We sincerely appreciate the partnership we have developed with WBRE and WYOU, and how it allows MFHS to reach the stations’ vast audiences within our service area.
Members of the team at these Nexstar stations do even more to support MFHS by attending and spreading the word about MFHS events, like last month’s happy hour fundraiser. At this fundraiser for our Nurse-Family Partnership program, we were pleased to be joined by news anchor Mark Hiller of WBRE. Not only was our event promoted on that evening’s news, but also Hiller was able to join us for the happy hour festivities. Last spring, our happy hour fundraiser was hosted by WBRE’s Dave Kuharchik, who included us in a news segment and happily interacted with attendees of the event. Dave has also made a star out our very own “Chef Laurie”, our Nutrition Education Coordinator who is a regular guest in the kitchen on PA Live!, where she shares healthy recipes and nutrition tips with the WBRE audience.
The friendly and supportive staff at our local news stations have truly been invaluable partners for our organization. We are grateful for their tremendous help in our media efforts, and we look forward to celebrating this successful relationship on October 18th.
