WIC Nutrition
The WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Nutrition Program promotes the health of women, infants and children by providing food and nutrition education to pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers as well as their infants and children. WIC services include nutrition education, healthy food vouchers, breastfeeding support, farmer’s market vouchers, and much more.
Reproductive Health
MFHS Reproductive Health and Family Planning services provides quality, confidential and affordable reproductive preventative health services to women, men and teens who might otherwise have no access to care. MFHS coordinates services to over 38,000 Reproductive Health clients annually through a network of 46 contract and direct service Reproductive Health sites in 15 Pennsylvania counties.
Nurse-Family Partnership
The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is a voluntary, free program giving first-time moms valuable knowledge and support throughout pregnancy and until their babies reach two years of age. Partnering first-time moms with caring nurse home visitors empowers these mothers to confidently create a better life for their children and themselves.
Pregnancy Care
Prenatal Care at MFHS Circle of Care, Scranton is an innovative prenatal program that takes a positive, proactive role in ensuring a healthy pregnancy. The comprehensive package of services for pregnant women includes medical, nutrition, and social services that promote healthy birth outcomes. The MFHS Prenatal Care Program provides complete prenatal care to low-income mothers-to-be through a partnership with Moses Taylor Hospital and Physicians Health Alliance in Scranton.
Breastfeeding Education
Maternal and Family Health Services promotes breastfeeding as the most perfect infant food and encourages new mothers to choose breastfeeding because it is proven to have significant advantages for both mother and baby. The MFHS WIC Nutrition Program offers valuable information and resources for breastfeeding mothers.
