NEPA Gives is back again this year, and MFHS is proud to once again be part of the largest day of giving in Northeast Pennsylvania. This year, NEPA Gives starts at 7pm on Thursday, June 1st and runs through 7pm on Friday, June 2nd. MFHS will be at the kickoff event at Rodano’s on Thursday night, so stop by and say hello if you are downtown!

This year, the funds raised will be used to start a new project at our brand new Circle of Care office in Scranton. We often find that our clients have additional needs beyond our services. In this case, our staff have noticed that our maternity clients often can’t afford to buy maternity clothes. At MFHS, we believe in the dignity of every person, and have worked hard to provide that across their healthcare experience with us.

The next evolution of this is to provide a maternity clothes closet for any client that can’t afford to buy their own. Your NEPA Gives donation will be used to help us launch Bette’s Closet in Scranton. This new closet is named in honor of longtime MFHS President and CEO Bette Cox Saxton, who retired in 2020. Bette has long been a champion for the women and children of Northeast Pennsylvania, and continues the work she did for 20 years at MFHS through her professional affiliations and current volunteer work include being a member of the Board of Trustees at Lackawanna College, a Board member of Dinner For Kids, a Founding Board Member of Fork Over Love, the National Family Planning Reproductive Health Membership Committee, and the Wyoming Valley West Steering Committee.

Bookmark our NEPA Gives page now, and then donate starting June 1st at 7pm. With our community’s support, Bette’s Closet will bring a much needed resource to the patients we serve.
