It’s The 20th Anniversary Of NEPA Komen Race For The Cure!
It’s time for you to make a difference in the lives of women throughout Northeast Pennsylvania. It’s time for you to make the world a safer place for mothers, wives, sisters and daughters everywhere. It’s time for you to pave the way to a world free from breast cancer. Every year, thousands of people across Northeast Pennsylvania don their pink and gear up for the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. This year, on the 20th anniversary of the race, we encourage everyone to show their support.
This year, the Komen Northeastern Pennsylvania Race for the Cure will be held September 11, 2010 in Scranton. MFHS is forming a team of walkers / runners under the coordination of Darcie Schaffer, MFHS Healthy Woman Case Coordinator, with a goal of raising $1,000 from the MFHS team to support breast cancer research.
Susan G. Komen Northeast PA has a goal of 10,000 participants raising $275,000 for the 2010 Race. You can help reach that goal by joining and supporting the MFHS team. All funds from the Komen Race for the Cure go to research, education, screening and treatment programs. MFHS is a recipient of funds raised at this event to support breast cancer screenings and mammograms for uninsured women. Last year, almost 800 local women were able to get screenings thanks to the partnership between MFHS and Komen, and since March of this year over 250 women have already had screenings.
As we get closer to the event, we’ll share more about our team and the brilliant women that have inspired us to take part in the Komen Race For The Cure. If you’re taking part in the race, we also want to hear your story. Who are you running for and how have they changed your life?
