MFHS Races For The Cure!
Saturday marked the 20th anniversary of the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure in Northeast Pennsylvania. All of Northeast PA gathered to celebrate 20 years of hope, research and progress in the fight against breast cancer. Team MFHS was proud to take part in the race and help fight breast cancer.
Our team captain, Darcie Schaffer, organized the walk in honor of her dear friend, Karen, aka Aunt “Teeney”. Teeney was able to join us, along with her family, for the walk. She has long been an advocate for breast cancer awareness and regularly speaks at schools to help educate about the disease. We were thrilled and honored to be able to walk with her on such a beautiful day.
The money raised at the NEPA Race For The Cure goes to help local organizations like MFHS that help in the treatment of breast cancer. Programs like our HealthyWoman help local women with no insurance or low income receive life saving mammograms and other services, thanks in part to funding from the Komen Foundation. Promoting early detection and treatment is crucial to surviving breast cancer.
Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered or walked during this year’s Race For The Cure. It was a success thanks to all of you! We shared a few of our favorite photos here, but you can see even more at our Facebook page.
