Local Curves Donates to the Nurse Family Partnership

Curves locations in Lehman, Hanover Township, and Plains recently conducted a baby shower to benefit first time mothers enrolled in the Nurse-Family Partnership Program at Maternal and Family Health Services (MFHS). Curves members donated essential baby items which new mothers need to care for their babies, including clothing, baby bottles, safety items and developmental toys.

The Nurse-Family Partnership is an evidence-based community health program that transforms the lives of vulnerable, at-risk mothers pregnant with their first child. This nurse-home visitation program provides early intervention during pregnancy that allows for critical behavioral changes needed to improve the health of the mother and child. The mother receives ongoing nurse home visits that continue through her child’s second birthday, teaching parenting and life skills that foster positive growth for both mother and child. Independent research proves that every dollar invested in the Nurse-Family Partnership can yield more than five dollars in return by breaking the cycle of poverty and eliminating the costs of long-term social service programs for at-risk families. Maternal and Family Health Services offers the Nurse-Family Partnership Program in Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wayne and Susquehanna counties.

Thank you to all of our friends at Curves for their donations and support of the NFP program!
