farmers-marketToday is the first day of the Wilkes-Barre Farmer’s Market, and with markets opening up for the season across the state, we thought today would be the perfect time to share what’s in season at a market near you.
This chart shows what fruits and vegetables are in season throughout the entire year. In June, apples, asparagus, beets, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, cherries, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, peas, radishes, summer squash, strawberries and tomatoes are all typically available! With such a wide variety of produce to choose from, there’s something that everyone can enjoy at your local farmer’s market. Print out this chart and keep it with your shopping list so you always know what will be available.
WIC participants can also use their Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program checks at many of the vendors at their local markets. Just look for the FMNP sign to see which farmers accept them.
