laura and josh mfhsMFHS is proud to announce the launch of its newest video, “You Have Questions, We Have Answers,” promoting SafeTeens.org.  The video was created by two MFHS interns from Wilkes University, Josh Solarczyk and Laura Preby, who have been using what they’ve learned in class to draw attention to the teen health website.
The video features teens holding white boards, printed with questions common to students, such as, “Can one drink hurt that much?” and “Why doesn’t she like me?”
Solarczyk, an integrative media student at Wilkes, thought the video would be a great way to advertise the health-related answers that can be provided through Safeteens.org.  He directed and produced the video, as well as envisioned its concept. Preby, a communications major, promotes SafeTeens.org with photography and digital and in-person outreach.
Over the summer, Solarczyk and Preby worked on a variety of other projects for MFHS, including a new video to re-launch SafeTeens.org’s “My Way To Be Teen Video Challenge” this fall. Preby will continue employment with MFHS as the Breast Health Outreach Assistant.
“Working on the SafeTeens promotional video for MFHS was an exciting journey that I will never forget,” said Solarczyk, “ It was such a great honor to work with the staff and volunteers that work day in and day out to make a difference and to give back to the community.”
Safeteens.org, provided by Maternal and Family Health Services and sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, is teens’ digital resource for a healthy lifestyle and includes information on preventing teen pregnancy, building healthy relationships and protecting teen health. Together with the SafeTeens telephone hotline, the website serves as teens’ confidential, direct connection to family planning health centers across the commonwealth.
