Family Planning
The Family Planning program of Maternal and Family Health Services provides quality, confidential and affordable reproductive and other preventative health services to women, men and adolescents who might otherwise have no access to care. MFHS coordinates services to over 38,000 Family Planning clients annually through a network of 46 contract and direct service Family Planning sites in 15 Pennsylvania counties.

Family Planning services include:

  • Complete gynecological exams.
  • Low cost pregnancy tests.
  • Free and confidential services to teens.
  • Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
  • Education about various methods of contraception.
  • Free or low-cost contraceptive products, based on income.
  • Breast and cervical cancer screening, including instruction on breast self-exams.
  • Human sexuality education and counseling.
  • Referrals to other health care professionals.


Other health care services available include:

  • Emergency contraception
  • Adoption services
  • Prenatal care
  • HIV testing and counseling
  • Hepatitis B immunization
  • Infertility screening and counseling
