Breastfeeding Awareness Walk And Health Fair

Maternal And Family Health Services is always committed to educating the community and helping them lead a healthier life. Besides our core services, this often means getting out into the public through health fairs and special programs designed to reach out to the community and inform them about healthy choices for their families.

One of our next health fairs is taking place next week to commemorate World Breastfeeding Week. The team from the MFHS Tunkhannock WIC Nutrition Center is sponsoring the 2nd annual Breastfeeding Walk and Health Fair in Tunkhannock on August 4th.  We’ll be passing out valuable information about the benefits of breastfeeding, along with breastfeeding tips and answers to any questions moms and mothers-to-be might have.

We hope you’ll join us next week. The health fair runs from 8 am to 12 pm, August 4, 2010 at the Tunkhannock Area High School Track. A variety of health and social service organizations will be on hand with resources for the entire family!

Many WIC locations will be holding special breastfeeding classes during World Breastfeeding Week, so even if you can’t make it to Tunkhannock, you can still take part. Call your local WIC office and ask if they’ll be hosting a class.

If you have questions, or are an organization interested in taking part in this worth-while event, you can contact the Tunkhannock WIC Nutrition Center at 570-836-6622 ext. 222.

We hope to see you there!
